The United Kingdom generally has two main intakes, September/October Intake and January/February Intake, however, there are a few universities In the UK which offers April/May Intake for a selected number of courses , the intakes are also known as Autumn and Spring intake
Autumn intake- September/October-Primary intake:
This intake is the main intake in UK. It is also called primary or autumn intake in UK. This intake is also mostly preferred by Indian students wishing to study in the UK as most Universities in the country offer all the courses in the September intake. The application deadlines for the September intake falls between February and May of that academic year. However, it will always vary based on course and changes from University to University. Students should check the respective university for the details. This intake gives greater opportunities for funding such as scholarships and bursaries. Students from all over the world apply for autumn intake in the UK due to the availability of the courses. Some of the universities offering admissions for this intake are LSE,UCL, University of Manchester, University of Bristol, University college London etc. Almost all universities in the UK are available for Autumn Intake
Spring intake- January/February-Secondary intake
Second best intake to start your studies in the UK universities if you missed the primary intake. January intake is known as the secondary or spring intake. This intake does not offer as many courses as compared to September intake, but this intake sure gives an opportunity to the International/Indian students who have missed the admission in the main intake. This intake gives students some more time to align their documents as well as to work on their application. The application deadlines fall between June and September, and will change from course to course and University to University. Due to the winter climate this intake receives a small number of applications from International students and specially from Indian students
Summer intake- April/May- Additional intake:
May intake is an additional intake, which is also the least preferred intake among the international students, this intake takes place during summer in the United Kingdom, there are not a lot of courses offered by the universities in the UK, on top of that many universities don’t open admissions for this intake. Yet, you can find some courses to study for this intake. There are some universities such as Coventry University, Northumbria University, Southampton Solent University, University of Bedfordshire offer a few courses for international students. May intake in the UK is also popular for short summer programmes, certification courses.
